According to the data from Romir Research Holding*, in 2009 crisis-year December, the inhabitants of large Russian cities spent twice as much on food and basic goods than in trouble-free January 2008.
More than half (56%) of Russians regard adoption of children from orphanages positively, however, only 3% of our country fellows are ready or more like ready to accept a foster child into their families.
Although the tendency unites all Russians, we can still trace some differences in the answers of the respondents. While only 16% of people, residing in millionaire cities, could characterize their attitude towards the subject as “very positive”, for the cities with the population of 100 – 500 thnd. and the rural area the indicator has hit a third of the respondents (34% and 33% respectively). Thus, the residents of megapolises, busy fighting for survival in “concrete jungles”, appeared to have a much more reserved attitude towards the matters of adoption as compared to other research participants...

The representatives of the high-income segment turn to travel agencies more frequently, too. A third (35%) of the citizens with above-average income prefers seeking professional help.
