Experts named main products which Russians are ready to stint themselves in

More than 50% of Russians prefer to refuse the consumption of instant soups, noodles and mash and 35% try not to eat sweets and semi-products. However, the majority, as revealed, isn’t ready to refuse starchy foods, potato and pasta.  

More than a half of Russians manage their nutrition and prefer slight and fat-free food. 47% mentioned that they try not to consume high-cholesterol foods. This data was obtained on a basis of analyze of Romir Scan Panel data. The respondents were asked to estimate a few statements on rules and food rationing — “strongly agree”, “rather agree”, “rather disagree” and “strongly disagree”.

The respondents more often seemed to refuse instant food — instant soups, noodles, mash and porridge. 54,8% of the respondents claimed this — 24,7% of them strongly agree, 30,2% rather agree (see Picture 1). 14,4% love food which doesn’t need prepared.

Almost 40% of Russians stint themselves in sweet dishes consumption — 9,9% said that they strongly agree with this statement, other 29,2% prefer to rather agree (see Picture 2). Exactly quarter of the respondents (24,9%) appeared to have a sweet tooth.

Prepared foods – pelmeni, frozen patties and vegetables – are next to the desserts. More than 35% of the respondents prefer not to eat them (see Picture 3). 9,4% of them stated that they disavow such food, other 25,9% noticed that they would rather agree with the statement. Nonetheless, the majority of the respondents – 42% - stated that they are probably not ready to refuse buying prepared foods.

Despite the common belief, few are ready to refuse junk trimmings – potatoes, macaroni and baked goods. Only 7,4% never eat such food (see Picture 4). 22,3% stated that they rather agree with the statement, 39,1% - rather disagree. 31,3% of the respondents flatly denied it.
