Andrey Milekhin on the air of RBC: a look at topical issues.
ROMIR President Andrey Milekhin became a guest of a live broadcast on RBC TV channel "Den. Main, where he shared his expert opinion on a wide range of topical issues of concern to Russian society. Such important topics as the international agenda, the development of platform employment and housing policy in Russia were in the spotlight.
The first part of the broadcast focused on the foreign policy agenda. Andrey Milekhin noted the high interest of Russians in geopolitical issues, which is confirmed by the data of the ROMIR survey conducted in 60 countries.
"Russians are traditionally much more interested in the international agenda than citizens of other countries," emphasized Andrey Milekhin. - We conducted a study on the BRICS expansion and found out that almost 30% of the world's inhabitants have not heard about this event at all. In Russia, however, there were slightly more than 5% of such people. At the same time, BRICS expansion received the greatest support in Russia and the member countries of the association, while the most negative attitude to this process is in Europe and the United States.
The second block of the broadcast was devoted to the topic of platform employment, which is gaining momentum around the world. The President of ROMIR noted both pros and cons of this phenomenon, calling for a balanced approach.
"Digital innovations and platforms are an important part of the infrastructure," the expert noted. - But it is important to remember that platforms are just a tool, not a panacea for all problems. We should not forget about the development of basic sectors of the economy and the creation of a solid infrastructure. In addition, for many Russians, working on platforms is still just a part-time job, not a full-fledged substitute for permanent employment".
The final part of the broadcast touched upon one of the most pressing social topics - housing policy. The expert emphasized the need to revise approaches in this area, taking into account demographic challenges.
I am not concerned about abstract economic indicators, but about people, society, our common future," admitted Andrey Milyokhin. - And there is a contradiction here: business is focused on solvent demand, while for the development of the country it is necessary to change approaches. We need to study the experience of different countries and analyze our own experience. Our research shows that in order to increase the birth rate we need a new housing policy focused on the construction of spacious and affordable housing, on increasing the stationarity of the population".
