Andrey Milekhin took part in the parliamentary hearings

Andrey Milekhin, President of Romir Holding, took part on November 9 in the parliamentary hearings in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation "Current decisions

on fertility support: family policy".

As part of the hearings, information was provided on the birth rate situation in the country. Thus, the total fertility rate in 2022 decreased by 5.9% compared to the previous year and amounted to 1,4161. In 2023, the trend of declining fertility continued. In the first 6 months of 2023, 3% fewer children were born compared to the same period in 2022.

The current geopolitical situation and sanctions pressure on the Russian economy have a negative impact on the reproductive behavior of the population. In general, there is a change in the birth rate model. More and more families are postponing the birth of their first and second children for subsequent years.

In order to ensure the protection of motherhood and childhood, support families with children and overcome demographic challenges, the Government has already significantly increased the volume of measures for the development of social services and infrastructure this year. Following the results of the hearings, the Federation Council also developed a number of measures and recommendations to ministries and departments for the further implementation of this program.
