Romir/GlobalNR: career or family

Residents of the world’s leading countries were asked to choose the most important value for them – career of family. On the whole, the vast majority (82%) of the respondents places family before career. Moreover, 18% of the citizens of the planet do not agree with this position. Italy, Germany and the Great Britain are the leaders with the largest share of people who choose family.

During the global survey in the spring of 2020, Romir research holding and GlobalNR, the international community of research companies, have explored global opinion on some key issues of society’s lifestyle, including medical issues, attitude on social processes, politics, global leadership, social trend and cutting-edge technologies. The research was conducted in 10 countries*, more than 7100 respondents from different socio-demographic groups participated in it.

So, 82% of the respondents place family before career. In contrast, 18% of the world’s residents think otherwise. The residents of Italy (91%), Germany (89%) and the Great Britain (89%) more often put a priority on a family.

Russians have showed the results close to an average value (84%). Further, the USA, by and large, chooses a family (87%).

The lowest share of people who agree that a family is more important than a career has been recorded in Thailand (75%), China (72%) and India (66%).

*The research by Romir and GlobalNR was conducted in Brazil, the Great Britain, Germany, India, Italy, China, Russia, the USA, Thailand and South Korea.
