22 April 2020

Research holding Romir releases a new “Romir Trust Rating – Spring-2020” in terms of General Top-100 of public figures.

Russians* were suggested to answer the question “Who among public figures builds your trust? Name seven people in descending order of confidence”. The respondents represent different groups with various socio-demographic qualities, consumer and media preferences and from all regions of our country. This research was conducted for the second time that allows to track the dynamics of influencers’ credibility.

Russian president Vladimir Putin, as in the previous research, became the leader of the rating. Sergey Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sergey Shoygu, the Minister of Defense, also entered the top three. The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovskiy, as Vladimir Putin, retained his position – 4th place.

It is wort noting individually the appearance in top-100 of Mikhail Mishustin, the new Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, with 20th place. In the previous survey no one expressed confidence to the ex-Head of the Federal Tax Service.

Other politicians in the rating began to lose Russians’ confidence. Thus, those who moved down the rating: Dmitriy Medvedev (by 6 positions), Alexei Navalny (by 9 positions), Sergey Sobyanin (by 9 positions), Gennady Zyuganov (by 1 position), Pavel Grudinin (by 11 positions), Irina Khakamada (by 4 positions), Valentina Matvienko (by 20 positions) and others. However, one opposition figure has built more trust of Russians: Sergey Shnurov moved up by 4 positions and entered top-20 of Romir Trust Rating.

Over the quarter after the last survey Yury Dud, Russians journalist and blogger, has successfully earned more confidence in the minds of Russians. This time he became the 8th in the rating. Moreover, another sport journalist Dmitry Guberniev moved up by 39 positions in the rating. Russians has also increased the level of their confidence to actors Alexander Petrov (moved up from 86th to 26th position) and Sergey Bezrukov (moved up from 58th to 37th position). In top-30 there were also Leonid Roshal, pediatrician and social figure, and journalist Andrey Norkin.

«The most significant moment of this rating is the meteoric rise of Yury Dud to the top ten ultimate public figures of Russia. This is the first sign in the figure of Internet person among political heavyweights and active TV-hosts. On the other side of the coin, this is the continuation of the trends which we are tracking – the new generation is coming, with its new view of life, values and influencers. Everything will change, and pandemics, infodemics, Russian and global transformations just accelerate this process», — comments the president of Romir research holding, Doctor of sociological science, the vice-president of Gallup International Andrey Milekhin.

*The poll surveyed 2400 people aged from 14 and older, residing in all federal districts. The sample represents the population of Russia.
