IX St. Petersburg International Youth Labour Forum: ROMIR and the Future of Social Sciences
On April 2nd, Saint-Petersburg State University hosted the IX St. Petersburg International Youth Labor Forum as part of the larger International Labor Forum. This event, the largest in Eurasia, brought together students, young professionals, and leading experts to discuss current trends in the labor market, including career search, sustaining, and development.
As part of the rich program of the forum, the session 'Life after graduation' attracted special attention. ROMIR President Andrey Milekhin participated in the session. He shared his experience and the success of ROMIR, emphasizing the growing importance of social sciences in light of rapid technological progress.
"The digital world is significant," said Andrey Milekhin. "However, technical skills are not the only one factor that will determine the future. Instead, a deep understanding of human behavior and social processes, which the humanities provide, will play a crucial role in this process." He added that these are the factors that ensure stability and predictability during a time of change.
The session also included a discussion on the importance of reading and its impact on the development of a professional mindset. Andrey Milekhin encouraged young people to read as many different genres as possible, emphasizing the value of fiction. Moreover, he highlighted the role of fantastic literature in fostering critical thinking and the ability to view things from different perspectives.
"Fiction is not merely entertainment; it is a form of mental training, an ability to see beyond the immediate horizon. Writers of fiction are visionaries, asking questions beyond the surface. Even disagreeing with the ideas presented in a book can lead to new insights. As the saying goes, "truth often emerges from argument." By standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, we gain the opportunity to see further and shape a brighter future for ourselves," he said.
ROMIR's participation in the St. Petersburg International Youth Labour Forum demonstrates the company's dedication to the development of young people and to expanding the boundaries of knowledge in social research. ROMIR makes significant efforts to shape the future of the professional community by relying on a contemporary analysis of trends.
